Azusa is a city in Los Angeles County, California, United States. The population was 44,712 at the 2000 census. This city's name is usually interpreted as a claim that Azusa "has everything from A to Z in the USA." However, contrary to popular belief, that is not the origin of the name, which was used for a land grant (Rancho Azusa) prior to Anglo settlement; the "A to Z" slogan was not adopted until after World War II. The name Azusa is derived from the name the Tongva Indians gave the land: Asuksa-gna.

The racial makeup of the city was 52.35% White, 3.78% Black or African American, 1.31% Native American, 6.14% Asian, 0.17% Pacific Islander, 30.52% from other races, and 5.73% from two or more races. 63.79% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
